Welcoming your baby into the world is one of the most emotional, fleeting, and beautiful moments of your life—and I’m here to help you capture that magic forever. As your Okinawa newborn photographer, I take great care in creating a calm, baby-led experience where you can relax and simply enjoy watching your little one’s first portraits come to life.

All newborn sessions take place in my cozy and fully equipped studio in Gima, Yomitan-son—just a short 3-5 minutes drive from Murasaki Mura and Alivila Hotel. Having my own studio allows me to control everything from lighting to temperature, so your session is peaceful, safe, and completely customized for your baby. Next to the studio, there’s a quiet parent lounge where you can sit back with a snack or even sneak in a quick nap while I gently work with your little one.

One question I often get from expecting parents is whether they should wait until the baby is born to book. The answer is no—please don’t wait that long! Newborn sessions are best booked during pregnancy, ideally around 4 months along. That’s the perfect time to start planning since most moms are past the first trimester and feeling a bit more settled. Booking early also means we can discuss your color preferences, dream setups, and any personal touches you’d like to include. Plus, if you’re interested, I can help set up a payment plan or organize baby shower gift certificates that friends and family can contribute toward your session.

I only accept two newborn bookings per week to keep things flexible around baby’s arrival and to allow time for other milestone sessions like maternity and Watch Me Grow. Once your little one is here, we’ll firm up the session date based on how they’re settling in, but I typically photograph babies between 9 to 17 days old. During this window, newborns tend to be extra sleepy and still enjoy being curled up, making it the ideal time for those soft, dreamy poses. Waiting until the second week also gives baby a little time to adjust to feeding and may help them stay full longer between breaks.

Sessions start at 8:30 a.m. on weekday mornings and are designed to move at baby’s pace. We take breaks whenever needed—for feeding, cuddling, or just settling—and most sessions last up to four hours. That might sound long, but so much of that time is spent gently calming baby and easing them into sleep. The studio will be kept warm (around 80°F or 27°C), which helps your baby stay cozy and relaxed while being photographed. It’s a great time for you to sit back, breathe, and take it all in.

You don’t need to bring much at all to your session—I’ve got everything covered. My studio is stocked with a beautiful variety of wraps, props, headbands, hats, blankets, and accessories, all carefully selected to suit a soft, timeless style. But if you have something special you’d like to include, like a handmade blanket or family heirloom, I would love to work it into your setup. Those little details make your session even more meaningful.

As we get closer to your session date, I’ll send you a full newborn session prep guide to help you get ready. It covers everything from how to prepare the morning of the shoot to a few simple tips for the days leading up to it. Since this planning is key to getting the most out of your session, I ask for at least 72 hours’ notice for any new newborn bookings.

Your session is officially booked once I receive your signed session agreement and session fee. After that, all you need to do is focus on welcoming your little one—I’ll handle the rest.
